Day 2 :

An early start and a short drive to the border with Senegal. you will spend the morning aboard a local skiff exploring the mangroves and pools of the River Allahain/San Pedro.  Before lunch there is an opportunity to visit the reptile farm at Kartung.
The afternoon is spent exploring the reserve at Tanje and Brufut.

Day 3 :

We leave Sanyang and spend the morning at Abuko reserve, before heading to Banjul and the ferry to the North Bank of the River Gambia.  From there it is around four hours to your destination and base for the next three days, Janjanburgh.

Day 4 5 6 :

Janjanburgh ( Georgetown ) is an island on the River Gambia some 250 miles up stream where the water changes from tidal to fresh. It is a birding paradise and the opportunities are endless. Your accommodation is a specialist Bird Safari Camp where you can mix in the evenings with other birders and compare notes from the day. During your stay here your personal guide will ensure that every day brings a new experience, and location in the most remote part of Gambia.

Day 7 :

The last day is a relaxing drive back down the north side of the river ( although you can opt for the south bank which is not such a good road ) with time to explore all the wetlands and forests on the banks. Your last night will be spent in Cape Point at the Sunbeach Hotel

Day 8 :

Normally flights from Gambia are in the afternoon , so there is time to visit either the pools and mangroves on the bund road or the grasslands and forest at Kololi.  The airport is only a short drive and your guide will ensure that you are there on time, so relax and enjoy the last hours of your gambian Holiday.
