One/Two Day Birding Safaris :

If you are coming to the Gambia and want to spend one or two days birdwatching we have designed these excursions especially for you. They are based upon two people sharing each trip, but can be for parties of up to ten or individuals if required. Discounts are available for parties of 4 or more.

These are full day trips starting early when your personal guide will collect you at the hotel, and finishing just before sunset when you return.

River Allahain Senegal Border : £50 per person.

The border river between Gambia and Senegal offers a fantastic opportunity to see most of the usual riverbank suspects from Pelicans to Palmnut Vultures, and Kingfishers to Thicknees.

Our trip will take you up country as the river snakes in and out of Senegal, the pace is leisurely and surpisingly the inhabitants of the mangroves rarely move off as we cruise by. The river is crammed with fish and we are constantly entertained by hungry Ospreys, Eagles, and Crocs, as they feed  upon this marine harvest.
This is an area that seldom sees tourists, and is perfect if you want to get away from it all and spend the day with nature.

Forrest Walks & Trails £45 per person.

You will be collected early from the hotel by your guide for the day in a 4x4 open top Jeep. The first stop is Abuko Nature Reserve before heading down the coast to Tange. In the afternoon lunch is taken at Paradise Beach before taking a short drive to Sanyang Creek which is teeming with wildlife, and where you can have the use of a sit on Kayak. The final stop on this all day trip is a visit to Brufut Forrest.

3 Day Upper Gambia River Safari £200 per person.

Includes 2 Nights Dinner Bed & Breakfast Accommodation.

Your pesonal bird guide will collect you from the hotel around 6.30 am to catch the first ferry to the North Bank of The Gambia River. The journey to your Safari Lodge 280klms up country at Georgetown will be taken at a leisurely pace in an open top  4 x 4 Jeep. First stop is on the north bank  Bao Balon Wetlands  and then on to Wassau and the Standing Stone Circles, before heading up river for the overnight stop. The stone circles are similar to those in Scotland in Orkney and The Isle of Lewis. It is unclear who built them or why , however they can be dated to around 700AD some 2000 years later than the ones in Scotland.  Georgetown where you will spend two nights at a Bird Safari Camp is a perfect base for birders. Also known as Janjangbureh  the area is a farming community and not only offers the opportunity to see some of the rarest birds, there is also a large bloat of Hippos at the south end of the island.
